About Us
Established in 2018, Autism Abilities is an NDIS registered, autism-specific service with a team of dedicated and caring professionals offering positive behaviour support, OT and speech pathology services.
Having identified a very real need for skilled support workers who understand how to support autistic people in a strengths based, neuroaffirming way we launched The Autism Site in 2025.
The Autism Site helps match autistic people across Australia with skilled and reliable support workers who 'get' autism. So whether you need help with daily routines, navigating social situations, or building independence, we would love to help!
How it works
Register
If you're looking for support(s) getting started is easy - simply fill out the new client registration form and tell us a bit about yourself, what's important to you, what you need support with and describe your perfect support worker.
Match
Based on the information you provide we will start to search our database of incredible support workers and send you the profiles of some potential matches. All of our wonderful support workers have completed thorough onboarding and verification checks, have access to training resources and support and are covered by our comprehensive insurance giving you total peace of mind.
Meet & Greet
Simply let us know if you'd like to arrange a meet and greet with any or all of the potential support workers and we will put you in touch. A free, 30-minute meet and greet provides a good opportunity to find out if it's a good fit.
Sign Up
Let us know if the meet and greet goes well and you would like to go ahead and we'll organise a work agreement for you with your support worker confirming the terms of service and rates.
Get Started
Once the work agreement is signed, shifts with your new support worker can begin. You can arrange this directly with them. Each week your support worker invoices us their shift records and invoices for processing and you will also receive a copy of these for your records.
Invoicing & Payments
We send out the invoices to you, your plan manager or the NDIA (depending on how your funding is managed) each week and your support worker is paid the following week. As an NDIS registered service it doesn't matter if you are NDIA, plan or self managed.
Fees
Autism Abilities fee is 15% of the support fee. This covers support worker and client matching service, checks, insurance, training, payment and invoicing service, support and assistance in the event of any incidents and for participants living alone additional monitoring and supervision.
All support fees are in line with published NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, which are reviewed regularly and updated annually on 1 July each year). You will be notified of any upcoming changes to the rates as and when they occur. A full breakdown of current fees (effective from 1 July 2025) is provided in the Client Handbook which can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
Ongoing Support
Your support worker will benefit from ongoing training opportunities at Autism Abilities so you can be assured that their skills are up to date. We also have inhouse knowledge and experience to provide additional support to you and your support worker(s) if this is required.
